The shelter for abandoned dogs near Haniska, which is under the thumb of the Union of Mutual Aid of People and Dogs (ÚVP), will not be missing among the recipients of volunteer help in this jubilee year of the Metallurgists for Košice event, which celebrates two decades of helping others.
Regular or premiere volunteers can expect several activities in the shelter to improve the quality of dog care, to facilitate the work of the staff and to make the stay of visitors among dogs more attractive.
Both men and women will find employment here. We will need the help of 30 volunteers - our colleagues and their relatives and friends. They will be joined by ten volunteers from the ÚVP.
The help of skilled carpenters in the production of two shelters that will serve the dogs in their enclosures is welcome. A dozen dog kennels are waiting for reconstruction, as well as benches in the relaxation zone.
We will saw and store firewood.
A man's strength will be needed when carrying gravel to the paddocks.
New protective coatings will be given to wooden shelters, benches and a gazebo. We will also paint the fencing in the quarantine station.
We will also help with gardening work, mowing grass and raking it around the stream and in the relaxation zone.
If you have a volunteer spirit and would like to lend your hand to the common work, come and help the ÚVP on Saturday, May 30.
We will make a nicer temporary home for dozens of different doggies in the shelter near Haniska.
Registration for the event will be open on Tuesday 28th April.
