THE JUBILEE 20TH YEAR OF THE VOLUNTEER EVENT Steelmakers FOR KOŠICE WILL TAKE PLACE ON MAY 29 - 30, 2026.
The event will start on May 29, 2026 with the traditional Steelmakers' Drop of Blood, as well as a collection of clothes and useful items for charity centers. On Saturday, May 30, volunteers will participate in work activities for the benefit of other institutions.
Steelmakers for Košice 2025:
The aim of USSK Volunteer Days, which were held on May 23rd -24th, 2025 under the name Steelmakers for Košice, was to give an opportunity to our employees to join in philanthropic activities and together with the company help the local community and the region in their development. 346 volunteers participated in the event. Together they worked 1,380 volunteer hours.

Work around the breeding facility of carpathian lynx: protective coatings for the fence, wooden lookouts, and cleaning and clearing unwanted and invasive trees in the terrain.

Maintenance and repair of historic locomotives Katka and Krutwig at Čermeľ station. Strengthening the slope with sleepers, move the wood and clean the area around the wood warehouse. Cleaning the track from invasive trees and weeds.

Notes for participants:
- Employees (of USSK and subsidiaries) and managers are cordially invited to join in the USSK Volunteer Days. They can come as individuals or as working teams and support team-building. Adult family members are welcome as well, since every helping hand is appreciated.
- A promotion campaign has been prepared in The X App Košice and USSK intranet/internet. Registration starts via intranet or X App Košice in the middle of April and continue until the volunteer capacities are reached, or until May 15 at the latest. Registration is necessary to arrange the proper amount of work for volunteers, working tools, T-shirts and small packed refreshments. If you have any problem with registration, ask your assistants to help you, or do not hesitate to call or mail the coordinator of the selected activity. When registering a team, it is advised to register each employee individually because there will be a prize draw after the event.
- Volunteers are invited to come in proper safe clothing, long trousers and sturdy laced shoes, and work safely to prevent any injury. USSK will provide special safety equipment where necessary.
- The types of work are intended for adult volunteers, but teenagers, similarly as at home, can help their parents. Parents with children younger than 12 years should register for the Zoo, where baby-sitters will be arranged to allow small children to stay and play while a parent is working.
- Those registered for places outside Košice (Zoo, animal shelter) might use minibus transportation if there are more than ten people interested. Inform the activity coordinator if you are interested, please. Minibus usually leaves at 7.30 am from the parking lot next to the Amphitheater.

Two decades of help, teamwork and new acquaintances... The 20th year of the Steelmakers for Košice event will take place at the end of May.
Today has been opened the 19th year of the Together for the Region grant program. Grant applications can be submitted by March 6, 2026.
Our grant program helps developing the skills of youth hockey players.
Kindergarten Budanova in Kavečany created a space for children to learn about nature.
The almost five-ton shipment was taken over from us last week by the Secondary Vocational School of Industrial Technology in Košice – Šaca.
We supported young athletes from floorball clubs led by the Leisure Center in Košice.
In the center of the village of Cestice, the municipal park area has come to life, which is especially enjoyed by families with children. Thanks to the U. S. Steel Košice Together for the Region grant program.
Thirteen of our colleagues, along with their families and friends, volunteered to run the largest refreshment station on the course of the Košice Peace Marathon.
It took five and a half minutes for each of the nearly 4,000 participants in the U.S. Steel Family Run mini marathon to cross the starting line.
