On Wednesday, the State Philharmonic held an exceptional concert called Karvay Plays Vask. Beautiful works by Eugen Suchoň and Antonín Dvořák were performed. A literal treat was the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra "Distant Light" by Pēteris Vasks. The solo part was performed by the Slovak violin virtuoso Dalibor Karvay, who became the first Slovak in history to be the concertmaster of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. The audience rewarded him with thunderous applause. The concert was also attended by a large group of steelworkers (80 – together with their partners). They were invited to this concert by the General Director of the ŠFK, Lucia Potokárová.
The concert was also enjoyed by the managers of U. S. Steel Košice with partners (from the right) Allison Revello and Mike Piekut, Robert Meitner with his wife Erika, Mária Kiraľvargová and Miroslav Kiraľvarga.
What impressions did they leave the concert with?
Several colleagues shared their impressions:

The concert performance was another spiritual enrichment for me and my wife, also due to the fact that we were able to experience the presentation of Dalibor Karvay, who began his career at the age of 3. And last but not least, it was a great performance of our musical ensemble. I admit that the first part was unusually dynamic for us (it is usually in the middle so that the audience does not fall asleep ), but the subsequent part with the mentioned artist brought it into a different light. Violin performance on such high and clear tones in a delicate version is only sporadically experienced at concerts. It's just a pity that we didn't attend the pre-concert meeting.

The whole program of the concert consisted of 3 performed works: Small Piano Suite Op.3 by Eugen Suchoň perfectly prepared the audience for the main point and the cherry on top of the whole program. The great Slovak violin virtuoso Dalibor Karvay perfectly personified the music of the Latvian composer Peteris Vasks. He gave a soulful performance. During his performance, emotions were mixed and the listener was perfectly drawn into the plot. Dvořák's Symphony No. 8 in G major is full of life and is characterized by changeability of moods and drama. Thank you, my wife and I enjoyed it very much and relaxed.
Mária Ferčáková
Thank you for the tickets. In addition to the beautiful experience of playing the orchestra, we noticed that the conductor conducted by heart.
Jaroslav Gulaši
Thank you again for the tickets and the opportunity to experience a nice concert. And my assessment as a layman? It was a nice experience and I especially liked Dvořák. The musicians, led by the conductor and the soloist, were excellent!
Juraj Roško
My wife Monika also enjoyed it immensely with her friend Aďa. It was a beautiful artistic experience, as always, a wonderful evening spent.
Marek Lukčo
A pleasantly spent moment during the Advent season. A beautiful artistic experience. We will definitely participate in another concert like this in the near future.
Zina Kromková
The concert was excellent, although I admit that the work of Peteris Vasks is completely unknown to me and I need to listen to it more. Mr. Karvay's virtuosity got me and Dvořák put me in a wonderful mood in the end. Thank you for the opportunity to attend such an event.
Matúš Harakaľ
I was at the concert with my daughter Vanessa and even though I don't listen to the classics regularly, the works of Eugen Suchoň and Antonín Dvořák performed by the Košice Philharmonic Orchestra were an experience. We also enjoyed the performance of violin virtuoso Dalibor Karvay.
Diana Mašlanová
It was a great experience, the unearthly tones of Dalibor Karvay. Sometimes it seemed to me that he was playing two melodies at the same time. Great art, thank you very much for this beautiful art evening.
Juraj Guba
My wife and I liked the concert very much. It is breathtaking that Mr. Karvay, who played for Prince Charles, played for us on Wednesday. As a musician, I was happy to be in the place where I have performed many times with the Youth Wind Orchestra of the City of Košice.
Andrea Pastirčáková
My colleague and I had a very pleasant musical experience. We were impressed by the art of the violin virtuoso Mr. Karvay as well as the other members of the orchestra. In some moments, we even shed tears... It went well for us in this pre-Christmas time. Thank you for this opportunity. Continue with such ideas, they will definitely please

It was a beautiful experience for us, full of beautiful music. As it happens, contemporary composers have a peculiar sense of beauty, which was also heard in the composition by a contemporary Latvian composer. But it wasn't a song that caresses my soul. But the virtuosity of Dalibor Karvay was beyond expectations. We were thrilled by his fabulous work with the bow. His delivery was as professional as possible and his playing technique was unbelievable. Symphony No. 8 by Antonín Dvořák is a true classical work - full of joy and life. It was played beautifully. Conductor Tomáš Brauner conducted this last symphony with a commitment worthy of this work and without a score!
Adriana Triščová
I didn't know the Latvian composer at all and I heard it for the first time and I liked it very much. Dalibor Karvay did not disappoint. It was an experience to see him again after 30 years – he is a talent. Suchoň and Dvořák did not disappoint as always... It was beautiful... I really appreciate that I was able to get tickets in this way.

My daughter Nelly's observation: "We were just entering the historic building of the House of Arts and we already knew that a real artistic experience awaited us. We also enjoyed the parts without Mr. Dalibor Karvay, but he was really brilliant, his playing technique cannot even be properly described. Simply the best concert in the House of Arts."
