Every autumn, the distinctly Czech town of Skřivany hosts a football tournament which is part of the Ardagh Metal Packaging Czech Republic - Skřivany Plant Company Day. For the fourth time, the organizers also invited U.S. Steel Košice as their only sheet metal supplier. Led by two Commercial staff members, team manager Viktória Lindvayová and coach Eva Šrillová, our company was represented by Jozef Ňachaj, Stanislav Švidroň, Roman Gburik, Jozef  Repko, Peter Lochmann, Matúš Sedlák, Marián Starzyk and Patrik Pástor.

We were drawn in Group B and played three matches with the following results: USSK – VAJA KURUCZ FC (Hungary) 0:3, USSK – BUFTEA (Romania) 4:0 and USSK – TIGERS TEAM (Czech Republic) 3:0. We took second place in Group B, so in the quarter-final our opponent was the Czech team ANTI GOAL TEPLICE. We managed to beat them 2:0 and progress to the semi-final. In this game we again came up against the Hungarian VAJA KURUCZ FC.  This team had won the tournament on several occasions before, and we had already played them and lost the match in the group stage. After normal time the result was 1:1, but our team won 2:0 on penalties and progressed to the final. The final match was very dramatic yet again. Our opponent was the Czech team AMCOR. In the first half, our opponent managed to score and the match was going their way. However, in the last minute, the USSK players executed a great offensive play. The ball passed through Ňachaj - Sedlák - Starzyk into the opponent’s goal and the score was 1:1. The match had to be decided on penalties. After three rounds of penalties, the score was 3:3. In the next round Gburik scored, and then our goalkeeper Ňachaj stopped the opponent’s penalty kick. The Košice steelers won 4:3 and brought the valuable trophy home.
