On October 30 U. S. Steel Košice President Scott Buckiso met the Director General for Trade at the European Commission Jean-Luc Demarty together with top representatives of Arcelor Mittal, Tata Steel and Eurofer to discuss the current situation on the steel markets, both worldwide and in Europe. They focused especially on the worsening business conditions caused by the rapid growth in imports into Europe of cheap hot-rolled steel mainly from China, and demanded the prompt introduction of anti-dumping measures by the EC. In particular they demanded a new approach to protecting the market which would ensure that these measures would be taken earlier than in a year's time. The steel industry representatives asked the EC to consider all the options which the European Union has at its disposal to ensure effective supervision and regulation so as to protect the European steel industry.
United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) today provided second quarter 2024 adjusted net earnings per diluted share guidance of $0.76 to $0.80.
