Slovak Dragons win the Steel Hockey Cup, a tournament played by sales staff and customers

On Thursday, March 23, 2017 a four-team tournament took place at the Steel Arena between our sales reps and customers, called the Steel Hockey Cup. The event was opened by USSK Vice President Christian Korn, who dropped the puck for the opening face-off between the two captains.

Several formerly active players in the teams contributed to the quality of the games, making the whole tournament more attractive. Among them was Radim Bičánek, who played in the NHL for ten seasons from 1993, having been drafted by Ottawa Senators. Later he played for Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets. From 2004 he played in the Czech league for HC Znojemští Orli, Kometa Brno and even HC Karlovy Vary in the last season. Dušan Barbořák, a former Žilina player, Petr Souček, a former Škoda Plzeň player, and Peter Ferencz, a CSKA Moscow junior team goalie, also presented their ice hockey skills on the ice.

The home team from USSK, called 'Košice Stars', played the Bohemian Lions in the first game.  This opening game finished 3:4 after a penalty shootout.

The second game, Slovak Dragons vs. Moravian Knights, also finished 4:3 after a penalty shootout.

In the third-place game between Košice Stars and Moravian Knights, the visitors won 2:6.

Slovak Dragons took victory after an improved performance in the second period of the final match against Bohemian Lions, thus winning the prestigious trophy.
