This year's USSK Winter Sports Games involved the participation of dozens of Košice steelmakers and their family members. There were competitions in cross-country skiing, giant slalom for children and adults, and in snowboarding. The skiing event also featured the now traditional Children's Winter Carnival, which took place for the 17th time this year.

The greatest attraction was the 50th edition of the annual ice-hockey tournament to find the Champions of U. S. Steel Košice. Twelve teams joined in the tournament, divided into two groups in a draw by the organizers. In the first round every team played all the others in their group. This was followed by a knock-out round, and in the end the Cold Rolling Mill and Steel Plants divisional teams met in the final match. The title of USSK Ice-hockey Champions for 2017 was finally and deservedly won by the Cold Rolling Mill team, who beat their opponents 3:2 in the deciding game.
