Košice was the venue from September 11 – 14 for the annual meeting of Worldsteel Association's Commission for Occupational Safety and Health Protection, at which nearly fifty participants held discussions chaired by the Commission's President Enia Viterba. The meeting also featured a joint presentation by USSK General Manager Occupational Safety and Hygiene and REACH Mark T. Salo and Peter T. Susca from the OpX Safety company, focusing on management systems for work safety and health protection and audits of the rules and procedures for preventing the occurrence of fatal accidents.

The meeting participants also undertook a guided tour of several U. S. Steel Košice production operations together with some occupational safety inspectors, during which they talked with employees about the identification of threats and dangers and eleimination of risks in the workplace.
