The WIN Women's Network (Women Inclusion Network) actively developed its activities in 2024 as well. Read a short balance, but also a vision for this year in an interview with the leader Brigita Kurucová (on the cover photo on the right).
For several years, WIN online events have been very popular for various current topics. How many people participate in them and which were the "best" last year?
Last year, the WIN Women's Network organized 5 online events. A joint event with NextGen dedicated to Digital – "Can artificial intelligence make steel?", which was attended by more than 400 people, enjoyed great interest. Another event called "Communication as a super ability" had 330 participants. The event called "Japan through the 5 most common stereotypes" had the highest attendance, with 470 participants. A traditional and popular topic is health. At one of the events, we focused on eyesight and learned how to protect it when working with a computer, smartphone... Another event was dedicated to breast cancer. We talked about prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and in cooperation with the Šaca Hospital, we introduced a program for women from USSK, where they can make an appointment for a mammography examination on an accelerated date.
These were not only online events, the WIN women's network was also involved in several corporate projects and activities.
As part of the Metallurgists for Košice project, we provided volunteer work and activities in the dog shelter near Haniska (Union of Mutual Aid of People and Dogs). At the end of September, thanks to the financial support of USSK and the organizational support of USSK WIN, USSK employees took part in the Carpathian Wandering donor march. This tourist march along the ridge of the Volovské Hills has been held since 2010 and is an activity aimed at supporting projects for the development of eastern Slovakia. The WIN women's network was also actively involved in charity events. We invited families from the We Are With You at the Right Time project to HC Košice hockey matches in the Steel Arena, we participated in a sports day for children from children's homes.
What events can we look forward to this year?
We will certainly continue to focus on topics in the field of healthy lifestyle, professional development, and we would also like to open a new topic – saving and investing for retirement. We will be happy to join the organizers of the volunteer activity Metallurgists for Košice again and help the shelter, we plan to continue with charity activities and we are also preparing interesting competitions.
