Kosice, 23rd of June, 2009 - United States Steel Corporation was the only steel company among18 global suppliers receiving an award under Volkswagen's "Group Award 2009". The ceremony was held this weekend at the Phaeno Science Center in Wolfsburg, Germany. Our company was represented by John P. Surma - Chairman and CEO, and George F. Babcoke - Senior Vice President European Operations and President of U. S. Steel Kosice. At the ceremony, John Surma accepted the award on behalf of U. S. Steel from Volkswagen board member Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz.

Since the start up of the new Automotive Hot Dip Galvanizing Line at Kosice in 2007, U. S. Steel has supplied product to Volkswagen plants in Germany and Bratislava. Our steel can be found on the VW Touareg, VW Golf, VW Passat, VW Caddy and almost every model manufactured under the Skoda brand of vehicles. U. S. Steel is expanding the cooperation with the VW Group, including future business with AUDI in Germany and the VW plants in Mexico and the USA.
