The activities of the RMS company have been part of the Košice steelworks since 1965. They cover mainly the production of progressive refractory materials, both shaped (bricks) and non-shaped (mortar), as well as maintenance services for the primary steelmaking operations. “In line with our new strategy, U. S. Steel Košice intends to concentrate primarily on the production of steel, and to offer secondary support activities to investors who provide them as their key business, and who are able to capitalize on the skills and experience accumulated in our operations,” says USSK Vice President Subsidiaries and General Counsel Elena Petrášková, explaining the Company's plans as 100% owner of the subsidiary. “We are undertaking the search for a new investor very responsibly. We are looking for the kind of new owner who we will be able to agree with regarding mutually beneficial cooperation continuing in the future, since we will always need reliable refractory materials and related services in our steelmaking operations,” the Vice President added. The RMS company is in good business condition, with prospects for growth especially in the case of suitable investment. It has integrated quality systems for production, occupational safety, environment and energy management in compliance with current international standards.
