At the end of last week, May 12 and 13, the 11th edition of the annual Company event U. S. Steel Košice Volunteer Days took place, this time called Steelmakers for Košice 2017, during which around 400 employees provided voluntary assistance to nine different organizations.

Steelmakers also made donations of various useful items to charity centers, especially clothes for children and adults, and dozens of them joined in the “Steelmakers' Drop of Blood” donor drive, providing supplies of the most precious liquid in the world. The volunteers also helped with several hours of manual work, smartening up the Forrest Gump Club day center for physically-disabled youngsters, renovating the Children's Historical Railway and the Animal Shelter, and maintaining the extensive grounds of the Botanical Gardens and Košice Zoo .
