The job opportunities fair organized by IASTE Slovakia, a member of the international association providing professional internship exchange programs for students of technical universities, is held in spring and autumn in three Slovak universities: Košice, Žilina and Bratislava. On November 10, 2015 the “iCareer Opportunity Day” project visited the premises of the University Library, Technical University of Košice, and attracted hundreds of students and graduates not only from this “alma mater”. And U. S. Steel Košice was traditionally among the companies presenting their business in the fields of information technology, electrical engineering, telecommunications, power engineering, financing, banking and chemical, automotive and the metallurgical industry.

“There is nothing else like direct contact. I never let the opportunity go to learn about the particular offers of the companies directly from their representatives,” says Silvia from the Faculty of Science, University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice, after she arrives at the Košice steelworks´ stand. “I probably didn´t pass the test, as I´m more German-speaking, but I´m about to travel abroad to improve my English…”  Martin, a second-year undergraduate at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Technical University of Košice, has no problems with English at all. He is studying a very promising field, applied mechatronics. He is interested not only in a future summer internship at the Košice steelworks, but also in the possibility of preparing a dissertationoin the smelting plant environment. “It´s an excellent opportunity,” says Martin.
