We now know the name of the new Occupational Safety and Health champion of U. S. Steel Košice for the month of July 2018. This time it is Tomáš Ganz, WURTH 9608 repair-man from electro-maintenance at blast furnaces 1 and 3 and shift maintenance at the Blast Furnaces Division. He gained this award for his design of a device for the safe carrying of electrical coils and cores. In his nomination it is explained that carrying these components up to the ore feeder gantry required holding the coils by a flange which is at most 2 cm wide. Since each coil weighs 87 kg, it was not possible to keep a firm hold and they tended to slip, with the consequent risk of their falling and being damaged, as well as injury to the employee involved or a colleague. Tomáš Ganz's proposed new carrier design has eliminated those risks.
United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) today provided second quarter 2024 adjusted net earnings per diluted share guidance of $0.76 to $0.80.
