The names of the organizations that received a grant in the Together for the Region 2025 program have been known since yesterday. We welcomed their representatives at the ceremony announcing the results of the grant program. Many were accompanied by our colleagues from USSK who will be part of the implementation of the supported community projects. The involvement of our employees is the basis for a successful application. Up to 30 of our colleagues are involved in the winning projects.

Representatives of the ten awarded organizations presented their projects and received symbolic checks from the Deputy president of U. S. Steel Košice, Mike Piekut.

"It is great to see that your organizations share the same values ​​as U. S. Steel and demonstrate their commitment to their local communities. I wish you much success in implementing your projects. They are of great importance," concluded Mike Piekut. The vice president for external relations, Miroslav Kiraľvarga, also addressed the audience.

We asked Miloš Fodor, a member of the evaluation committee and general manager for the environment, to evaluate current 18th year of the program.

“This year, there were better and weaker projects, which ultimately helped us make a decision. The applications are always of approximately the same rank, whether it is about supporting youth, education, safety, environmental protection, supporting tourism, exploring nature and the like, but the success of the project and the approval of the grant depends mainly on how well the project is written. There are applicants who are new, and they do their research and then write the project well, but there are also those who do not research, do not have experience and their application is not of such high quality. But we also have a group of regular, experienced applicants, whether municipalities or interest groups, who are truly “at home” in this area and know how to build and write a project well. We should take an example from them.”

In the 18 years of the grant program, 161 projects have received support in a total amount exceeding 410,000 euros.
