This year's 7th edition of the international conference entitled Košice Invest 2015, co-organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia and Forbes magazine, took place in the metropolis of Eastern Slovakia last Tuesday, November 3. One of the conference partners is U. S. Steel Košice, and the Company was represented in the discussions by President Scott D. Buckiso and Vice President External Affairs, Administration and Business Development Miroslav Kiraľvarga. The conference took the form of four panel discussions focusing on current and future opportunities for development in Košice and this region. City Mayor Richard Raši described Košice as the most dynamically developing city in Slovakia. He presented the strategy, preparedness and aims of the city, outlined challenges associated with the development of creative industry, and mentioned investment into transport infrastructure as well as several positive impulses for the inflow of further foreign investments. In his contribution the Chargé d´Affaires at the Embassy of the USA in Slovakia Liam Wasley emphasized the changes which have taken place in Košice over the past twenty years. They have brought with them great development in the city and growth in investment opportunities, which have attracted large investors to the eastern part of the Republic. One example of these is indisputably U. S. Steel, but there are also other successful firms, especially in the IT field. In a shorter contribution from the standpoint of a foreign investor in this country, the President of the Košice steelworks assessed business conditions in the Košice region and this country as a whole. He pointed out that some areas of business are still problematic, but they are continuously developing. These include transport inrastructure, environmental laws and energy prices.
