The international scientific conference named DIS 2018 focusing on the theory and application of methods of tecghnical diagnostics recently enjoyed its twenty-first annual edition. The program of this event, which took place on October 2 and 3 at Dom techniky (the House of Technology) in Košice, included presentations, lectures and discussions on the theme of technical diagnostics and its support within the Industry 4.0 system, progressive and non-destructive testing methods, benchmarking in the field of technical diagnostics and maintenance, protection of property, plant and equipment, and on safety, quality and the environment. The credit of this international conference was supported with presentations by specialists from U. S. Steel Košice. Technologist and tribodiagnostician Milan Haluška spoke about the benefits of applying the principles of tribomanagement (controlling friction and lubrication between moving parts of machinery) around the steelmaking plant, and technologist Zdenko Beli talked about blast-furnace hoists and the fitting of gear-wheels in the M1 drive transmission.
