Delegation from Krasnojarsk visits Kosice Region and steelworks

Between October 24 to 27 a group of representatives of the Krasnojarsk Region of the Russian Federation paid the first official visit to the Kosice Self-governing Region. The delegation led by Governor Lev Vladimirovitch Kuznetsov traveled to this country as a follow-up to the Agreement on Commercial, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation signed by both sides in March of last year.
On Thursday, October 25, the guests of Kosice Self-governing Region Chief Executive Zdenko Trebula were welcomed at U. S. Steel Kosice. The steelworks was incorporated into the visitors' program due to its status as the largest company in this region, and because Russian technology was used in its original construction, and to this day raw materials are still imported here from Ukraine and Russia. During their short stay the delegation members were familiarized with the USSK production program and looked round the operations at HDG line no.3. The guests were welcomed and accompanied by U. S. Steel Kosice President David J. Rintoul.

Wishing Trees ready for next week

Just next Monday, November 12, new Wishing Trees will be appearing around the premises of the Kosice steelworks. If you take one of the cards from them together with its Christmas wish, you can bring joy to the hearts of the boys and girls in the foster homes at Podolinec and Uralska Street in Kosice, but also to the children of our employees whose families have got into complicated life situations due to the long-term illness or death of one of the parents.
You will find the Trees at four fixed locations: as traditionally in the vestibule of the Company's main administrative building, in the building of the works canteen in the Public Access Area, inside the 2A gatehouse, and in the foyer of the Commercial building. To ensure that the gifts reach the children by the proper date, they should be handed in by November 26, 2012 at the latest (Monday to Friday between 5.30 am and 3.30 pm) in the Public Affairs building, U. Elections of trade union officials take place

For the period of office from 2012 till 2016, 488 trade union section trustees, 134 chapter committee members and 25 new chapter committee members have been elected. The elections to the bodies of U. S. Steel Kosice Trade Union Council were held in three rounds. The current Chairman Mikulas Hintos was re-elected as Chairman of the Trade Union Council, and Eva Mihalikova, chairwoman of the Power Engineering KOVO Chapter, Jozef Vesely, chairman of the Hot Rolling Mill KOVO Chapter, Jozef Gresko, chairman of the Cokery KOVO Chapter, and Juraj Varga, chairman of the Steel Plants KOVO Chapter, were elected as members of the Trade Union Council Executive. Jozef Gresko and Juraj Varga were also elected as Deputy Chairmen of the Trade Union Council.
