High-school students praise their summer work placements
The nearly sixty high-school students who were taking part in the summer work placements of U. S. Steel Kosice have almost reached the mid-point. Three of them, by way of Ocel Vychodu, are glad to share their experiences. They appreciated the helpfulness and willingness of the employees of the company with whom they met. They also paid tribute to the approach of the mentors and instructors, and added that the summer work is perfect for youth to gain practical experience as well as new know-how from the field which they are studying at school.
Photo-competition - my vacation
Ocel Vychodu announces its competition for the most beautiful vacation photograph. Employees of U. S. Steel and its daughter companies may join in the competition. The three best photographs will be awarded prizes. One condition for being included in the competition is to send or bring to the editorial section a maximum of three photographs (on photographic paper) in a format of at least 13 x 18 centimeters. On the back of the photo please write your name, address, the name of the division plant in which you work, your personal number and telephone contact number. Include with the photograph a short commentary, where, when, and under what circumstances the photograph originated, or perhaps who is in the picture.
Hockey talent at the summer camp
This Monday at the Steel Arena, the next part of the hockey camp for talented and perspective boys got underway. The event was sponsored by U. S. Steel Kosice. In May and June the boys, adding up to 60 young hockey talents between the ages of 5 and 10 years old, did their dry-land training in the outdoors, at playing fields, and at gyms and in sports halls. By the 1st of August they will exchange these venues for training on the ice surface.
Kosice`s sporting summer attracts crowds
At the sports-entertainment grounds on Alejova street in Kosice on August 11th there will begin the third tournament of the 4th annual Kosice sports summer. Already approximately 150 youngsters have enrolled in their individual sports. The football fields will be packed, but competitors have also been found for hockey-ball, streetball, tennis and table tennis. Into the final, and vying for the mayor`s cup for Kosice - South, on the 29th of August, shall advance the winners of the first two halves of the draw for the individual sporting disciplines. The finish will be connected, as is tradition, with the days of `open doors`. Apart from a morning of competing, the children will be able to partake in other varied competitions and attractions. The day comes to a grand closing at the cultural program at the amphitheater.
