Observations by employees' representatives evaluated
A few days ago U. S. Steel Kosice management evaluated the best observations by the employees' representatives for occupational safety and health in the first quarter of 2006. The ten observations with the highest points scores according to the evaluation rules were selected. All of the observations performed and entered for evaluation contributed to the identification of dangers and threats, and thus also to the general elimination of risks in the field of occupational safety and health. A meeting of the best observers with Company representatives at an informal lunch will be arranged after evaluation of the best observations from the second quarter of this year.
Kosice Summer of Sport 2006
For the second time now the Fun Sports Area at no. 2 Alejova Street in Kosice is to be the venue during the summer vacation for the Kosice Summer of Sport. The principal organizer for this year's event is again the City Ward Kosice-South in cooperation with Kosice Municipal Authority and U. S. Steel Kosice. The reconstructed fun sports area will offer the chance to join in games of soccer, tennis, table-tennis, streetball, beach volleyball and hockeyball to individuals and teams of players between 10 and 18 years of age.
Merger of two insurance companies planned
The integrated management of the health insurance companies Sideria and Dovera announced at the end of last week that it intends to merge the two companies at the beginning of next year to make the biggest non-state health insurance company - the Dovera Health Insurance Corporation, which will then operate the largest network of branches and offices all over Slovakia.
New approach to business trips
Monday, July 3rd 2006, at U. S. Steel Kosice saw the official commencement of operations of the agency Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Slovakia, represented here by a new company SKY 4 U, s.r.o., which started providing travel services to U. S. Steel Kosice on July 1st this year. The opening of its working premises, located in the USSK Public Affairs building in the Public Access Area, was attended by U. S. Steel Corporation GM Purchasing Thomas A. Coughlin, U. S. Steel Kosice GM Purchasing Deborah A. Grabe and SKY 4 U, s.r.o. CEO Robert Mikita. The new service provider is also introducing several changes regarding the arrangement of business trips. First and foremost it aims to work more efficiently by making maximum use of the potentials of computer technology. The manner of issuing payment cards and filling in requisition forms is also changing.
