Slovakia has an outstanding reputation abroad
Another in their series of business breakfasts was organized last week by the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosice. The business people who attended heard
presentations by United States Deputy Ambassador in Slovakia Lawrence R. Silverman, who also visited U. S. Steel Kosice on Monday of last week, American Chamber of Commerce Executive
Director Jake Slegers, and by Kosice Self-governing Region Chairman Zdenko Trebula, who stated that much of the credit for this region's development must clearly go to U. S. Steel
Kosice.
Lawrence R. Silverman confirmed his Embassy's interest in building up contacts with the East Slovakian region, and in promoting this part of Slovakia among foreign
investors. As he said, Slovakia has an outstanding reputation in North America, and the country's status in the international forum is constantly rising. Joining in the discussions at the meeting
on the main priorities for regional development was also USSK Vice-president and National Association of Employers President Anton Jura.

Balloons over Kosice again
From Wednesday to Sunday this week the skies above Kosice will again be full of brightly-colored hot-air balloons. During the 13th edition of the annual
International Balloon Fiesta, otherwise known as U. S. Steel Balloon Cup Kosice, we will be seeing twenty balloons and one airship from Holland, Spain, Poland, Hungary, the Czech
Republic and of course also from Slovakia.
This year's Balloon Fiesta also features a wealth of associated events - early-morning flights over downtown Kosice starting around half past six from Liberators
Square, and late-afternoon flights also around six thirty together with an entertainment program in the parking lot of the Optima Mall. This will also be the venue at 7.30 on Friday evening for
the Evening Balloon Show, which culminates in night-time balloon inflating and a fireworks display, and again on Saturday, June 17th, at 4pm the Optima Mall car-park will be the place for a
children's entertainment afternoon with a number of different attractions. One interesting fact is that precisely 100 years ago on June 14th 1906, Kosce witnessed its first balloon flight.
