Young ice-hockey players' support program
With the aim of giving a chance and equal opportunity to children with sports talent, especially future ice-hockey talents from socially-disadvantaged families, the
support program for young ice-hockey players named Your Chance to Play was announced by U. S. Steel Kosice on Sunday, May 28th 2006, during the Children's Day celebrations at Kosice
Zoo.
Ice-hockey nowadays is financially demanding in terms of playing equipment, rink charges and travel expenses, and for this reason U. S. Steel Kosice wants
to give talented children an opportunity regardless of their social background and conditions. Parents can enter their boys in pre-school and school age categories. The selection for the young
hockey players' support program will be decided by a panel consisting of trainners from Kosice Hockey Club and Skultety Street Sports School, as well as representatives of U. S. Steel
Kosice.
Auditors are satisfied

S. Steel Kosice managers last Thursday, May 22nd 2006. According to the statement by Chief Auditor and Deputy Director of RW-TÜV Bratislava Pavol Hornik, the auditors recommend issuing U. S. Steel Kosice with certificates in line with the requirements of ISO/TS 16949:2002, stipulated by manufacturers in the automobile industry, as well as ISO 9001:2000 for a further period of validity.
Let's meet on the Hornad Cycle Trail
Voluntary work for the time being, but we'll be on our bikes later! This Saturday, June 3rd, the villages associated in the Hornad Microregion are organizing a
voluntary work day aiming to clean up local cycle trails, mowing the verges and trimming back bushes. U. S. Steel Kosice has been providing regular assistance in maintaining cycle
trails in the form of material and machines, but this time there's a chance for Company employees themselves to lend a hand.
Cycle trails are ideal places for spending free time for active cyclists and families with children alike. They offer the possibility of combining sports activity
with visiting interesting natural, cultural and historical sites. Volunteers from the ranks of USSK employees can meet between 8.15 and 8.30 am on June 3rd in the parking lot in front of the
General Health Insurance Company on Liberators' Square, from where they have coach transport laid on to take them to the village of Ždana. Return to Kosice is planned for 1 pm. All you need to
bring is working gloves and a good mood. You can let us know that you are taking part on 0904 704 112 until 3 pm on Friday. Everyone who fancies helping is welcome!
Strip Mill employees at lunch with the President
Nine men from the Hot Strip Mill who are among the stalwarts of the division were invited by U. S. Steel Kosice President David H. Lohr to a working lunch
last Wednesday, May 24th 2006. Also present at the meeting were Vice-president Human Resources Miroslav Kiralvarga, Vice-president Operations Scott Pape and Hot Strip Mill Director Ladislav
Hanuscalka. Both sides made use of this informal meeting to get to know each other more closely.
They talked about themselves, their families, their interests and their work. They compared the past with the present, and the ones who witnessed it remembered the
time when the factory was first built. Most of them also spoke highly of the changes that have taken place since U. S. Steel took over the Kosice steelworks.
