The principal line of business of U. S. Steel Košice's latest subsidiary company Ferroenergy s.r.o., established towards the end of last year is the production of heat energy and electrical power, and its by-products are compressed and blast air. On December 1 this new, separate legal entity, originally inscribed in the Commercial Register on February 4, 2017, took over all the rights and duties connected with the investment of part of the company USSK, namely the Power Generation division, in the capital assets of the subsidiary company. As USSK Vice President Subsidiaries and Services Elena Petrášková explains, the whole process of this transformation, the course of which has been regularly reported to the management in Pittsburgh as well as in Košice, began back in May 2016. The conclusion of the long-term analyses and evaluations was that the buildings with the boilers and turbines should be withdrawn from the assets of U. S. Steel Košice and transferred into an independent company set up as recommended on the basis of an audit of energy generation at U. S. Steel Košice.
