A recertification audit of U. S. Steel Košice's environmental management system in compliance with the requirements of the international standard EN ISO 14001:2015 took place at the Košice steelworks on October 22 to 24 of this year. It was carried out by a three-member team of environmental auditors from the TÜV SÜD Slovakia certification company, who prersented their findings at the concluding meeting in USSK's main auditorium on October 24.

The auditors did not discover any substantial shortcomings or deviations from the standard in USSK's operational EMS, and therefore they recommend renewing the steelworks' certificate for a further three-year period. In connection with their audit they endorsed the interlinkage between the Company's systems of quality, environmental, energy and occupational safety management, in particular their shared elements which enable the rationalization and harmonization of the methods of promoting activities and information among the employees.
