When you are in the city on Friday, November 15, after 1:00 p.m., be sure to plan one special stop on the corner of Alžbetina and Hlavná streets. The smell of lentil soup will lead you to your exact destination.
On this day, when we will commemorate the proclamation of St. Elizabeth of Hungary as the patron saint of Košice, the city of Košice organizes the cooking of "soup of the poor". The goal is to honor the patron saint of our city and further spread her message about the need to help the poor, the sick, orphans and people in need.
You can taste lentil soup for a minimum contribution of 2 euros, but of course, you can also contribute a higher amount.
The money raised will help the Society of Friends of Children from Children's Homes Úsmev jako dar and the DEDO Foundation. The first organization supports children and young people in centers for children and families (CDR), helps young people after leaving CDR as well as families in difficult life situations. It builds centers to help families in need and affordable, social, rental housing.
The DEDO Foundation provides a home for families who find themselves on the street and, through professional guidance and through Dorka Bags, n. o., creates suitable conditions for them to find employment in the labor market in order to keep their housing.
The event was also supported by U. S. Steel Košice.
