For years they’ve been helping out for no personal gain, regularly giving blood or working to improve facilities providing services to the people of Košice and visitors to the city. They have not hesitated to step up even during this covid-troubled period. During the Steelmakers for Košice volunteer events which took place in June of this year, USSK President Jim Bruno visited all of the participants and saw their enthusiasm and commitment to their task.
As an expression of gratitude he invited them in return to enjoy a few hours of relaxation with entertainment and good food, and the party for volunteers which was organized on September 9 at the U. S. Steel Košice Training Facility in Medzev went off excellently. In his opening words the President was generous with his praise: “This year as in the previous ones you have carried out some excellent work. We’re a large firm, but we’re also part of the community, and it’s important that we support it. In the first year when I came to Košice, right away I was proud of our team, and I told everyone about the your strong commitment to volunteering, including our CEO in Pittsburgh. You can be proud of yourselves, and I thank you all.”
USSK Director Public Affairs Ján Bača, whose team has been responsible for organizing the Company’s volunteer events over the past 15 years, presented the coordinators of particular activities: Slávka Tvrdoňová, Fero Gregor, Iveta Falatová and Ľuba Šoltésová and in-house photographer Arpád Köteles. After that it was the turn of Training Facility Manager Miroslav Rohún and his team to cater for the participants, offering them grill specialities and other goodies.
