Face-masks and respirators for the community
Author: -c-
All employees in U. S. Steel Košice production operations now have two cotton face-masks each. Some of these were purchased, but the remainder have been sewn up directly at the steelworks, either in the Protected Workshop or in the works laundry.
To date more than 5000 masks have been made in these “tailoring” workshops of ours, and their production is going on, so we have been able to share 500 masks with other organizations in the local community. Masks from us have been given to senior citizens in the Autumn of Life civic association, the Hurbanova Street Center for Children and Families, and the Oasis – Hope for a new life non-profit organization homeless people's shelter. We have also helped the Archdiocesan Charity in Košice, gifting them 140 meters of cotton material which can be used to make face-masks, mainly by clients at the Community Center in Trebišov, but also by Ursuline nuns in Košice.
Apart from face-masks, another PPE item in short supply is respirators. We have distributed 100 FFP3-type respirators among the Hurbanova and Uralská Street Centers for Children and Families, the Archdiocesan Charity and the Oasis – Hope for a new life organization, and we trust this help will come in useful for them.
