Just like last year, this time we financially supported a summer camp for children from the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih. For the third time, it was organized by the Košice-West City District as part of partnership cooperation with the local government.
In the Kysak-Brezie recreation center, 21 children from families affected by the war enjoyed a week full of experiences and fun, without fear of drone strikes or bombing. They visited the Košice Zoo with DinoPark, the historical center of Košice, the trampoline center, but also the more distant Thermalpark Šírava. They said goodbye to the camp as it should be, with an evening barbecue.
The words of gratitude that the organizers received from the camp participants after its end speak for themselves:
"Do you know what the main "souvenir" we brought from Slovakia is? Not magnets. Not photographs. But gratitude that cannot be expressed in words. It is a great honor for us to be part of this beautiful international cooperation. Thank you to everyone who put a piece of their soul into it."
"Thank you for your kindness, hospitality, care and humanity. Thanks to you, we were able to relax, find new friends, feel safe, happy and supported."
Kryvyi Rih, a major industrial center, has repeatedly been the target of Russian attacks during the war. The last time the city faced a missile attack was on Thursday, July 2.
