This year, thanks to employees, volunteers and all donors, we managed to collect 78 bags and boxes of clothes, shoes, household items and other useful things. More than 60 donors came to two collection points. What has no longer found use in one household gets a new story where it can bring help and support.

At the headquarters of the Jeseň života (Autumnof Life) civic association, our former retired colleagues took over and sorted things. As always, full of energy and good mood. Cilka Markuliková has been a long-time part of the collection, in the times of VSŽ she worked as a paediatric nurse in a company nursery and later as a nurse at the anaesthesiology and resuscitation department of the VSŽ hospital: "Since 1997, as a member of the club, I have been involved in almost all club activities, and therefore also in the collection of clothes and other useful things. I like to help people who need it," she says.

Monika Faith prepared children's clothes for the collection, which her husband Erik brought to the Jeseň života civic association. "We have a lot of children's things at home, children are growing, they need space for larger sizes and these that I have brought will help children and families in need," she said.

All collected donations are distributed through the charity to people in need and to the facilities of the Archdiocesan Charity Košice in eastern Slovakia.

"The jubilee 20th year of the volunteer event Steelmakers for Košice has once again shown that solidarity has a strong place in our city. We are grateful that the Archdiocesan Charity Košice has been able to be part of this beautiful initiative of U. S. Steel Košice for many years, which connects people with a desire to help.  Behind every donated piece of clothing or thing, we see above all a person who has decided to think about someone else. It is these simple gestures of solidarity that help us to be closer to people in need and bring them not only material help, but also the feeling that someone is thinking of them. We thank the volunteers, employees and all the people who opened their closets, households and especially their hearts," says Silvia Hrabčáková on behalf of the Archdiocesan Charity Košice.
